Weekend Events Near Lake Conroe

The area around Lake Conroe includes the cities of Conroe, Montgomery, and Willis. Some Woodlands events will also be included.

 

SATURDAY, APRIL 21st

Montgomery County Fair & Rodeo

Where: 9201 Airport Road in Conroe

What: BBQ Cook-Off weekend at the Montgomery County Fair!  The carnival opens at 11am. NO MORE TOKENS!!! You will purchase a pre-loaded armband to gain access to rides, games and food available in the carnival area. Kiosks and reloading stations will be available on the grounds to add more funds to the armbands. The armband is re-loadable from the comfort of your own home using a Magic Money app available for Apple and Android devices.

Block Party at Woodforest   10am-5pm

Where: Fox Trail Park located at 212 Fox Trail Rd. in Montgomery

What: Woodforest will be rockin’ the neighborhood with food and fun at an all-day block party. The  festivities are open to everyone and will include live bands, food, snow cones, inflatables, games and more. Beer and margaritas will be available for adults 21 and up. The community’s model homes, including multi-million dollar showcase homes, will be open for touring with complimentary shuttle service.

The Elephant Man  8pm

Where: The Crighton Theatre located at 234 N. Main St. in Conroe

What: The Elephant Man is based on the life of John Merrick, who lived in London during the latter part of the nineteenth century. A horribly deformed young man, victim of rare skin and bone diseases, he has become the star freak attraction in traveling side shows. Found abandoned and helpless, he is admitted to London’s prestigious Whitechapel hospital. Under the care of celebrated young physician Frederick Treves, Merrick is introduced to London society and slowly evolves from an object of pity to an urbane and witty favorite of the aristocracy and literati. Will he ever achieve his ultimate dream, to become a man like any other?

Iron Kids Fun Run   10am

Where: Town Green Park located at 2099 Lake Robbins Dr. in The Woodlands

What: The Children’s Memorial Hermann IRONKIDS fun run offers young athletes the unique opportunity to feel the excitement of competition while enjoying the outdoors and promoting healthy living.  Parents, family, and friends are invited to cheer on the racers while they run though The Woodlands. Ages 3-13.

The Woodlands Farmer’s Market  8am-noon

Where: The Grogan’s Mill Center located at 7 Switchbud Place in The Woodlands

What: Local produce, artisan goods, music, food, family fun!

Cost: FREE Admission

 

Strawberry, Chocolate & Wine Festival   12-6pm

Where: Bernhardt Winery located at 9043 County Road 204 in Plantersville

What: General admission for adults includes: a commemorative wine glass, a chocolate tasting stroll of four wine tastings divinely paired with chocolates at each chocolatier’s station, a visit to the chocolate fountain, and a train-ride vineyard tour conducted by wine journalist, Ron Saikowski. There will also be demonstrations, live music throughout the day, along with local artisan vendors.

Cost: $25 General Admission, $15 Port & Chocolate Pairing, $35 Combo Ticket

Sunday Lawn Concert Series: The Fab 5, Beatles Tribute   6-8pm

Where: Bernhardt Winery located at 9043 County Road 204 in Plantersville

What: Enjoy an outdoor lawn concert with great music and relax with your family and friends. Reserve a table or bring your lawn chairs and come relax with us. We have an assortment of cheeses, snacks, dips and crackers. Gourmet artisan cheese platters are available to order and a variety of local food trucks will be on site. You are very welcome to bring your own picnic baskets. No outside alcohol allowed, it is against TABC Law to bring alcohol onto the property. The Fab 5 are one of the nation’s top Beatle tribute bands. A desire to recreate the spirit & enthusiasm of the British Invasion and America’s subsequent retaliation led to the formation of The Fab 5 in 1990. The Fab 5 is a Houston, Texas based Beatles Tribute Band performing the greatest hits of THE BEATLES, and the Pop Beat music of The 60’s and 70’s
